Project overview

VALOR, equipped with a Viper Mine Disposal System (MDS), was deployed by a national navy via autonomous surface vessel (ASV) for remote subsea mine neutralisation in a maritime environment.

Operating at depths of up to 100m in near-zero visibility, the mission required fully remote launch, recovery, piloting, station-keeping, and acoustic detonation.

The solution

VALOR was chosen as the most powerful and fully digital ROV in its size class, with the capacity to operate multiple sensors simultaneously and integrate a bespoke 4-shot Viper skid designed by Rovtech.

Compared to traditional single-shot systems, VALOR delivered 4x faster operations, significantly reducing vessel time, carbon emissions, and operational risk. Its digital architecture enabled stable station-keeping via Sonardyne Sprint NavMini INS, acoustic detonation triggers, and autonomous waypoint navigation.

All key remote tasks - including multi-shot sequences, extended station-keeping, and autonomous navigation - were seamlessly integrated into a bespoke VALOR solution tailored for high-efficiency mine neutralisation.
