Rovtech appoints offshore operations specialist Callum Lamont as chief operating officer
Rovtech has announced the appointment of Callum Lamont as chief operating officer, strengthening the company’s leadership team as it accelerates growth across international energy and industrial markets.
Lamont joins the harsh environment robotics specialist with extensive experience in offshore operations, project delivery and client management, having held senior roles with Fugro and ROVOP.
Rovtech is a specialist engineering company designing and manufacturing robotics, tooling and equipment for the world’s harshest environments, supporting critical operations across the nuclear and subsea energy sectors from bases in Aberdeen and Barrow-in-Furness.
In his new role, Lamont will take full responsibility for operational delivery across the business, including production, technical support, pilot projects, demonstrations and client-facing project execution.
He will also work closely with Rovtech’s engineering, production and commercial teams to ensure products are designed and delivered around real operational needs.
The appointment supports Rovtech’s strategy of scaling its manufacturing capability while maintaining quality, consistency and client experience as demand for its robotic systems grows in new and existing markets.
John Polson, chief executive officer, Rovtech, said: “Callum’s appointment is another major step forward for Rovtech. He understands exactly what clients need because he has spent his career delivering in demanding environments.
“He brings real operational credibility, strong leadership and a relentless focus on customer support. As we continue to grow, his experience will help ensure we scale the right way – with quality, reliability and service at the centre of everything we do.”
Commenting on his appointments, Callum Lamont said: “Rovtech has built an outstanding reputation for innovation and engineering excellence, but what impressed me most was the ambition to become more than a manufacturer – to be a true operational partner for clients.
“The opportunity to help shape that next phase of growth was one I could not ignore. I’m excited to join the team, support our clients and help deliver technology that performs where it matters most – in the field.”
Lamont’s appointment also marks a reunion with Polson, with the pair having previously worked closely together during a high-growth period earlier in their careers.
Rovtech and its next-generation VALOR platform were recently acquired by Ventex, which is focused on repurposing proven supply chain capability for renewable energy markets while backing high-potential technologies supporting the energy transition.
